Living in Peterborough, farming in Hastings.
The name... one thing is for certain, the name fits our farm. There always seems to be a "hole in the bucket" (great song by the way!). Five steps seem needed to do the one task we set out to do, over and over! And yes, sometimes we just need an excuse to take it easy and let the plants do the work. A hole in the bucket can be both a source of frustration and a blessing. It was a long-standing joke, while we simultaneously searched for a new farm name.
Formerly known as the Farm on Argyle, I began my farming adventure as a small urban farm on Argyle street in Peterborough, Ontario. I have been a vendor at the PTBO Regional Farmers' Market on and off over a number of years. In 2021, the farming operation moved to Hastings, 30 minutes east of Peterborough, where we enjoy 100+ acres of fields, forest and environmentally sensitive wetlands. The property is rich in animal and plant life and walking through it is one of my favorite things to do after tending to the gardens. It truly is a little piece of paradise to walk through. We started from scratch in 2021 with old hay fields, gradually transforming them into two main garden plots as well and a new orchard of apple and pear trees and rows of asparagus and berries (blackberries, haskaps, saskatoons, black raspberries). We grow 100% organically, selling to local establishments as well as privately and through the farmers' market when possible.
Thanks so much for your support. We would love to have the opportunity to supply your home, your store or your restaurant with some of our organically grown produce.
